An app to cut your waiting time short!
My 80 year old grandmother visits the General Practitioner more than twice a week. My mother usually accompanies her and keeps complaining about the never ending queue. The other day mother asked me,”Why do we wait so long for seeing the doctor? It’s not the same when it comes to other practising professionals like Consultants or Lawyers. Can’t we do something about it?” It made me realize that on a visit to the physicians we spend over 20 minutes waiting for our turn, in some places it’s longer. Scientifically, waiting for a very long time decreases your overall satisfaction with the visit. The waiting area in clinics is overcrowded and always seems to have limited seating capacity. When you go to visit a doctor, you are sick, anxious, uncomfortable or in pain. In such a situation a long wait only worsens the situation. Doctors attend to emergencies, sometimes there is over scheduling or double appointments to avoid no show, all this only makes the wait longer.
Just yesterday I came across a solution for this problem-GPQ. This app, currently available on Android, promises to end the long wait. GPQ, developed by BlueNest Ventures Pvt. Ltd is a simple yet user friendly app for patients and physicians. It’s a free download for patients with a onetime
It started off as an experimental project in late 2015. It drew an overwhelming response from people
1. Downloads GPQ from Google Playstore and signs up.
2. Tap the Doctor’s name and book your number in the queue (Add the doctor to your phone
3. Get real time updates on your position in the queue and estimated waiting time
Patients in the waiting area of clinics will be seated comfortably, and the physician doesn’t have to worry about sudden cancellation of OPD due to any emergency as all patients in the queue receive real time updates. Instead of waiting in or outside the clinic, patients can now relax in the comfort of their home or office and avoid all anxiety that is associated with a visit to the doctor’s.
The creators of this app are planning a premium version for doctors, it may be released in the coming months. An iOS version is round the corner. You can check www.gpqueue .com for more information.
